House fire in Delaware City

Station 15, Engine 29, Engine 6, Engine 32, Tower 12, Ladder 18 and Rescue 24 were alerted for a Residential Structure Fire at 139 Clinton Street, Delaware City at 02:14 hours. 911 Communications received several calls with on advising of a possible subject trapped in the basement. Squad 15 [Captain Merlino] arrived on scene at 02:21 hours with fire showing from side C. Chief Emeritus Jamie Rosseel [15-8C] arrived and established Delaware City Command. Crews placed several lines in service and were able to locate a male subject down in the basement. The subject was brought out to C15 and Medic 5D which transported to Christiana ER. The subject passed away later in the day at Christiana Hospital. A10 / M2D transported an elderly female to Christiana ER. Scene was urned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshals Office.

Laurel Fire responds to house fire

Earlier tonight at 1800hrs, the Laurel, Blades, and Delmar Fire Departments responded to a reported house fire on Webb Ave. Deputy Chief Layton arrived POV to find smoke showing from under the house. 81 Command went responding with Asst Chief Lowe along with Engine 81-4 right behind him with 6. Engine 4 arrived first and pulled past the structure to leave room for the truck and deployed a hand line to the front door. Rescue 74 arrived and staged out the way and sent their crew inside to assist Engine 4s crew. Tower 81 arrived and took position on the A side and prepared to set up. Towers crew threw ground ladders on the A, B, and C sides. Engine 81-3 arrived and staged at a hydrant. Crews investigated and found a small fire in the heater vent. Fire was put out with a water can and put a fan to the front door for ventilation. Situation was placed under control and held to units on scene. Engine 74-3 was sent to cover Station 81. Units on scene: 81 Command, 81-4, Tower 81, 81-3, 81-2, A81, Rescue 74, 71-3, and SCEMS.


Harrington Fire respond for vehicle fire reported exposure to house

Tuesday (05/26/2020) at approximately 1145hrs., the station was alerted for a vehicle fire with exposures to a residence in the unit block of Jackson Ditch Rd. Units arrived to find a vehicle with the motor compartment involved, extending to the passenger compartment. Crews quickly extinguished the vehicle and remained on scene overhauling and checking for remaining hazards. Command placed the scene under control and units cleared a short time later. Officer In Charge-3rd Asst. Chief Jeff Outten. Units Responding: Officer 50-22, Command 50, Engine 50-4, Engine 50-5, Tower 50, Ambulance A-50, Harrington PD and Fire Police.

Eastern Division Conference held in Hightstown, New Jersey Thursday, May 9, 2019 The Hightstown FD were great hosts for our Conference. Past President Larry Wood put together 2 days of great speakers and wonderful programs. We started off with our Memorial Service put on by Past President Less Warrick and assisted by Executive Director Bill Walton. A group of New Jersey Fireman’s Associations provided Chaplains. Hightstown FD provided bag pipers and an outstanding singer.

Ellendale responds for an MVC with vehicle on fire

At 00:54 hours on Sunday, May 17, 2020 the Ellendale Fire Co. was alerted for an MVC with vehicle reported on fire in the 16000 block of Pine Road south of Ellendale Delaware. En route to the scene, crews from Ambulance B-75 and Rescue 6 first located an MVC with rollover on Saw Mill Road. After checking that there were no injuries, a call was placed to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center to see if these were separate incidents. Before receiving a response, fire police coming from the Redden area located the initial incident, advising a single vehicle MVC with vehicle into the woods and fully involved. Rescue 6 continued on to the original incident and arrived with conditions as described by fire police with the fire extending into the woods. Rescue 6 placed a 1 3/4” attack line in service to contain spread into the woods and begin suppression. Crews encountered a ruptured fuel line with a gasoline-fed fire. Engine 2 arrived and laid a supply line to Rescue 6 as crews placed a second attack line in service for foam use. Fire was contained and crews returned to service. The driver fled the scene prior to fire apparatus arrival and no patients were found. Units responding: Rescue 6, Engine 2, Engine-Tanker 8, 75 Command, Ambulance B-75




Clayton Fire responds for a kitchen fire

Clayton units along with mutual aid units from 44, 26, KCM 2, 64, and Kent County Medics operated on a structure fire in the Kentbourne development west of Clayton. Units arrived to find a active fire in the kitchen. The Hartly Fire Company covered the first due while units operate.

Minquadale Fire responds for garage fire

Tuesday night at 21:26 Minquadale and Holloway Terrace were dispatched to a detached garage on fire on Aquilla Ave in the Overview Gardens community. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six. Upon arrival, Engine 22 secured a water supply and found a detached garage well off with impingement on the residence. Crews deployed attack lines for fire suppression and exposure control. Additional resources where called which brought a ladder and engine from Goodwill Fire Co. Scene was placed under control and turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshal.
