Claymont assists Chester on church fire (4 alarms)

Thursday, May 28, 2020
This morning just before 0300hrs Chester City (Delaware county) went to a second alarm as units operated in the 500 block of East 9th street. The battalion chief arrived to report heavy fire conditions in a large church. This moved Ladder-13 to cover the city of chester. Our ladder, staffed with 4 under the direction of Ed Hassel, never made it to their station before the 3rd alarm was struck. This moved our ladder to the scene. Upon arrival L13 set up to protect an exposure building behind the church that was on fire. The ladder pipe was in service for around 2 hours before being repositioned toward the end of the block. This fire went an additional alarm just before dawn.
