At 5:07am we were alerted for a house fire at 333 Bay Ave. Along with 89, Milton 85, Ellendale 75 and Milford 42 were dispatched also. After being alerted that it was involved 89 Command Had 52 & 57 for their Tankers and 2 Engines from Lewes dispatched. Arriving on scene found one house fully involved, one with just the siding melted and the other with fire on the C & D side. The Tower was plced in front of the original house and was set up. The crew pulled the crosslay and headed to the 3rd floor of 335. The Tower started flowing water to 335 until the handline was in place. The Tower switched to 333 and 331. Milton’s Night Train layed a 5” line to 89-5. Milton Deputy Chief Johnny Hopkins assumed water supply and had Engines shuttle water from the irrigation well on Slaughter Beach Rd. Dep 85 had a tanker placed at the well to fill trucks and another tanker at the beach. Water was no issue. Milford, Ellendale, Milton, Houston and South Bowers had tankers and shuttled water. Everyone did a great job in extreme heat. Sussex County Paramedics set up rehab and kept everyone safe. The house at 331 had siding melted and 335 had fire damage in the C & D side. 333 was a total loss. FM16 Deputy Fire Marshal Woody MaGee did his investigation. Christiana Excavating brought in a unit from Lincoln and pulled the house apart so it could be wet down. Want to thank everyone who assisted at the scene our covered our stations. It was beyond hot but everyone stepped up. Thanks to the Volunteer Fire Service!!!
