Car strikes house and catches fire in Indian River

Around 1:45 this afternoon IRVFC, Sussex County Paramedics, BLS units from Station 91, and the Delaware State Police were alerted for a vehicle accident on the 26000 block of John J. Williams Hwy. The initial reports advised of a vehicle that had struck a residence, and was on fire. While units began to respond, Sussex County EOC advised they were receiving calls the fire had spread to the home. Upgrading the call to a working residential fire added Lewes Fire Dept. and Millsboro Fire Co. to the initial alarm assignment. Initial crews began an interior attack before pulling from the home due to deteriorating conditions. Additional attack lines were placed in service to extinguish the home and vehicle. There were no reported injuries, from the fire. Two patients were transported as a result of the initial accident.
